Each week, North Fulton Sports Report honors and highlights a student athlete who performed at an elite level within their sport.
This week’s NFSR Athlete of the Week is Cooper Davidson from Fellowship Christian School.

Davidson, a sophomore on Fellowship’s baseball team, had a memorable opening weekend in the Paladins’ first games in over 11 months.
In the Paladins’ second game of the season Saturday, their leadoff hitter Davidson got the team started with an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the first inning. The next inning, he sent a ball over the fence for a three-run homer to extend the Paladins’ lead over North Springs. Fellowship ended up wining a close game 9-8, picking up its second win of the season.
In the team’s second game of the day, Davidson started on the mound against Cambridge. He pitched four innings, striking out six batters and giving up one earned run in a no-decision. The Paladins lost 7-6 to the Bears to move to 2-1 on the season.
“The coaching staff knew what Cooper was capable of as a hitter last year when we decided to bat him lead off as a freshman,” Fellowship head coach Shawn Oliver said. “He’s a very cerebral athlete when and that is something that definitely sets him apart. He ended up hitting .455 last season before we got shut down and he’s definitely someone we can count on to be a quality at bat when he steps to the plate. That mentality helps him on the mound as well and he’s going to be a great arm for us as we go through the season.”
Fellowship entered the 2021 season ranked No. 3 in Class A Private by Georgia Dugout Preview. The Paladins (2-1) have upcoming games this week against Northview (0-2), Cartersville (1-1) and River Ridge (2-1).
