Each week, North Fulton Sports Report honors and highlights a student athlete who performed at an elite level within their sport.
This week’s NFSR Athlete of the Week is Kanaan Carlyle of Milton High School.
Carlyle, a sophomore on the No. 1-ranked Milton boys basketball team, started the week by scoring 42 points in the Eagles’ 30-point win over Woodstock. The dynamic guard had the hot hand from the get-go, finishing the night 9-for-11 from three-point range.
Later in the week, Carlyle dropped 17 points in Milton’s 85-40 win over crosstown rival Alpharetta. He scored 15 points in a highlight-filled first half before watching from the bench most of the second half, as the Eagles led by 38 points entering the fourth quarter.
Carlyle is a consensus five-star recruit, ranked 11th overall in the sophomore class by Rivals.
No. 1 Milton (16-2, 6-0), which has won 14 straight games, hosts No. 5 Cherokee (15-3, 4-0) in a crucial region matchup Jan. 26. The winning team will take over first place in Reg. 5-7A with a limited amount of games remaining in the regular season, although the two play each other again Feb. 2 at Cherokee.
