BOYS BASKETBALL
Class 7A
Roswell 56, Alpharetta 46
Roswell led from start to finish, improving to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in region play. The Hornets were led by sophomore Jase McCullough’s 17 points and junior Quinton Partee’s 12 points. Senior Malachi Chipp (16 points) led Alpharetta, which fell to 3-10 overall and 0-2 in region play.
Class 6A
#4 Chattahoochee 57, Riverwood 44
Fourth-ranked Chattahoochee (12-1, 7-0) won its sixth straight game Tuesday, as it traveled to Atlanta and knocked off Riverwood. Senior A.J. White, last week’s NFSR Athlete of the Week, led the Cougars with 22 points.
#9 Centennial 51, Rockdale Co. 41
Centennial (12-3, 6-1) picked up its third win a row Tuesday night, topping Rockdale Co. in a non-region contest. Senior KJ Spooney (20 points) led the No. 9-ranked Knights, who return to region play Friday against Riverwood.
Cambridge 59, Creekview 45
Cambridge ended a four-game skid, improving to 6-10 overall and 1-7 in region play. The Bears were led by senior Tommy Swift and sophomore Daniel Mack, who each scored 13 points.
River Ridge 45, Johns Creek 30
Johns Creek (6-9, 3-4) fell at home Tuesday to the third-place team in the region, River Ridge. The Gladiators play Friday at Creekview, the team right ahead of them in the region standings.
Class 5A
Hiram 54, #9 Blessed Trinity 50
Blessed Trinity (12-5, 2-2) had its three-game win streak snapped Tuesday by Hiram. The Titans, who re-entered Class 5A’s top 10 rankings this week, play home region games Wednesday vs. Woodland and Friday vs. Cass.
Class A-Private
#2 Mount Pisgah 75, Mt. Bethel 35
For the second game in a row, Mount Pisgah (12-5, 8-0) won comfortably and had 12 players score in the process. The No. 2-ranked team in Class A-Private plays Friday at King’s Ridge.
Fellowship 61, Weber 45
Fellowship bounced back from a tough loss to No. 2 Mount Pisgah the day before, picking up a region win over Weber. The Paladins (4-5, 3-4) sit just outside the top four in the Reg. 6-A Private standings with upcoming games Pinecrest and Athens Christian.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Class 7A
#10 New Manchester (5A) 75, Milton 44
Milton was tied 20-20 with New Manchester at one point, but the Top 10 team in Class 5A stormed back in the second half to defeat the Eagles. Milton (1-13, 0-5) plays Friday at home against Alpharetta.
Class 6A
Cambridge 44, Creekview 41
Cambridge bounced back from a loss to No. 10 River Ridge with a region win over Creekview. The Bears (11-4, 6-1) are second in the Reg. 7-6A standings with upcoming games against No. 9 Sequoyah and Chattahoochee.
#10 River Ridge 57, Johns Creek 35
Johns Creek fell at home Tuesday to the first-place team in its region. The Gladiators (10-7, 5-2), who dropped to fourth in the Reg. 7-6A standings with the loss, close out their week Friday at Creekview.
Riverwood 51, Chattahoochee 44
Chattahoochee (7-11, 1-6) led at halftime on the road, but the home-team Riverwood came from behind to take the win. The Cougars play Friday at Cambridge before a Saturday rematch with Riverwood, this time at home.
#9 Sequoyah 62, Centennial 40
Centennial (2-14, 0-8) lost its sixth consecutive game Tuesday, falling on the road to No. 9 Sequoyah. The Knights have a chance to bounce back Friday at home against Riverwood (4-8, 2-5).
