NFSR Athlete of the Week: Jan. 10-16

By Zach Shugan

Each week, North Fulton Sports Report honors and highlights a student athlete who performed at an elite level within their sport.

This week’s NFSR Athlete of the Week is A.J. White from Chattahoochee High School.

The senior point guard led the No. 4 Cougars to a 20-point win over No. 7 Centennial early in the week, scoring a game-high 23 points. Later in the week, White dropped 31 points in an overtime win against Creekview.

The all-time leading scorer in Chattahoochee history has had quite the start to his senior season. In December, White surpassed 2,000 points in his high school career. In a Jan. 8 game at River Ridge, he hit a game-winning three pointer at the buzzer to help keep the Cougars undefeated in region play.

Chattahoochee stands at 11-1 overall this season and 6-0 in region play. The defending 6A state champions take on region foes Riverwood and Cambridge this week.
