MaxPreps recently released its 2020 All-State football teams for Georgia, and two North Fulton players made the elite list.
Milton defensive end Lebbeus “L.T.” Overton was named to the All-State first team and Blessed Trinity running back Justice Haynes was named to the All-State second team. Overton and Haynes were two of four sophomores to make the cut, while the other 48 plalyers were juniors or seniors.
Overton, the No. 1-ranked sophomore in the nation by 247Sports, terrorized opposing offenses all season for the Eagles. The highly-touted prospect was named the Reg. 5-7A Player of the Year after racking up 21.5 sacks on the season, the most by any player in the state.
Haynes, ranked the No. 4 sophomore running back in the country, carried a heavy load for a Titans team that made it to the GHSA Class 5A quarterfinals. The Blessed Trinity running back earned postseason honors as the Reg. 7-5A MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.
Haynes averaged 11 yards per carry, totaling 1,595 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns on the season. Even more impressive, he put up those numbers in just eight games, as Blessed Trinity’s schedule took multiple hits due to the pandemic. The sophomore finished 11th on the list of top rushers in the state. Ahmere Morrison of River Ridge, the top rusher in the state, had 1,958 yards in 12 games.
